Search Engine Marketing
“Search Engine Marketing” or (SEM) is the practice of promoting a business online using paid advertisements in predesignated space of the search engines result in pages (or SERPs), it is comprised of two main activities:
- PPC: The process of buying traffic for specific pages (Paid search ads, Paid Advertising and (Pay-per-click).)
- SEO: The process of “earning” traffic through valuable content to specific pages (Search Engine Optimization)
Despite the components as above, the “SEM” is mostly known or usually referred to as the PPC marketing, due to the paid interaction and immediate results of the paid campaigns. In fact, SEM is one of the most effective marketing methods to acquire leads and sales in an increasingly competitive internet marketplace.
Benefits of SEM & SEO
The benefit of the PPC, part of SEM is that it offers the advertiser the opportunity to “increase” the visibility and positions of their advertisements at the search engine result pages and thus place them in front of motivated customers.
While on the other hand the benefits of SEO, part of SEM (part of Lead Generation Marketing), are real estate establishment and value optimization in the search engines designated “space”. In other words, SEO is the practice of increasing the value of the content on the website, in order to be “discovered” by the search engines, and therefore be promoted automatically (by search engine algorithm) in front of motivated visitors, as most relevant to their searches.
